Cochrane Protocol: “Implants versus autologous tissue flaps for breast reconstruction following mastectomy”

Dear friends and colleagues,

G.Re.T.A. is proud to announce the publication of our last Cochrane protocol comparing implants and autologous tissue flaps for breast reconstruction following mastectomy.

The safety of implants has been periodically questioned in the last years and recently a rare and mostly indolent disease as the BIA-ALCL is, pushed towards looking at alternatives to breast implants for breast reconstruction.

Could autologous tissue flaps totally replace breast implants for breast reconstruction following mastectomy?

We will compare the two techniques in terms of surgical outcomes, patient-reported outcomes and cost-effectiveness, following the strict methodology of the Cochrane Collaboration.

We will keep you updated!

Read the protocol here.
