In pursuing our goal, our scientific director, Nicola Rocco, together with our Honorary Chairman, Maurizio Nava, has been proud to be part of the outstanding faculty of the Buenos Aires Breast Meeting 2018, organized by Alberto Rancati, Eduardo Gonzalez and Claudio Angrigiani.
Obtaining high level evidences in surgery is difficult due to the challenges in conducting surgical randomized controlled trials and to surgeons’ general reluctance to embrace trial methodology.
This is why we often base our decision-making on personal preferences, without having the opportunity to offer the best evidence-based option to our patients. This is what happen for example when dealing with breast reconstruction in the setting of radiotherapy or when choosing an ADM for implant-based breast reconstruction.
The round table on Breast Reconstruction and Radiotherapy, leaded by Eduardo Gonzalez, with the participation of Benjamin Sarfati, Cristoph Andree, Peter Cordeiro, Maurizio Nava and Nicola Rocco received a very good feedback from the audience, open to embrace a new evidence-based method for guiding decision-making in breast surgery.
